We are working with the LGA, IDeA and the Leadership Centre for Local Government to design and facilitate a new national innovation conference to take place in November.

I had the privilege of working with the Innovation Exchange team to facilitate this event today, which marks the official start of a programme designed to support and showcase the best in third sector innovation. We supported The Innovation Unit in the launch of this new publication on 10 July at the Guardian Newsroom. Charles Leadbeater argues that the current approach to educational reform is running out of steam. Improvements in results have reached a plateau. Educational inequality remains stubbornly high.

ThePublicOffice team held two great workshops at the London Connects conference yesterday. We worked with senior local and central government colleagues and our sponsors Accenture to come up with new ideas for system changes that are necessary if public services are to genuinely meet the needs of citizens. Merton are committed to developing forms of governance which encourage and fully respect the voice and contribution of young people, their families and their communities. We are working with the Children's Services Directorate supporting their Corporate Parenting Steering Group and Children's Centre Governance Group to rethink approaches to governance and implement new models.

On 10 & 11 June, ThePublicOffice installation is appearing at GCExpo, Earls Court for the second year running. Caireen will be working with Lindsey and Ruth from ThePublicOffice team at Kable to run two VIP workshops for 40 senior public servants and to host other exhibition delegates throughout the two days. The Innovation Exchange is holding two Festivals of Ideas in April and May focusing on independent living and excluded young people. We are supporting them to design the events and help facilitate.

We are currently working with Sophia Parker (Project Lead) and the team at SILK to engage stakeholders in and build capacity around the programme of local innovation they are undertaking. We are also helping them develop a SILK future strategy and associated project strands.

We have just supported our partners Bell, one of the UK's leading independent, strategic design and brand communications agencies, in winning a contract to deliver the marketing and communications strategy for the General Teaching Council's programme the Teacher Learning Academy.

We have been involved in the Activ.mob programme for the past 2 years, working with the RED team at the Design Council to develop the approach, supporting its implementation in Kent Council, and now leading work to seek investment and take the programme to scale from within The Innovation Unit. Gene is Director - Activ.mob at The Innovation Unit.

We supported the RSA (Royal Society for the encouragement of Arts, Manufactures & Commerce) in the development of their networks project.

GoddardPayne has worked with The Innovation Unit on a range of projects during the last 5 years. Having previously been part of DfES, The Innovation Unit is now a not-for-profit innovation agency and is currently undertaking work in the field of Applied Next Practice (Download file).

As one of the field-trial consultants for The Innovation Unit's Next Practice in Education Programme, Gene has been working with Barnsley MBC over the past year in support of their Next Practice work on system leadership. By working closely with key local authority leaders, Gene has been able to facilitate a series of interventions that have helped form prototype governance models to support their radical change agenda.

As one of the field-trial consultants for The Innovation Unit's Next Practice in Education Programme, Gene has been working with Knowsley MBC over the past year in support of their Next Practice work on system leadership. Gene acts as an adviser and critical friend to the key leaders in Knowsley and is currently working with them and other Innovation Unit consultants to co-design and deliver a Pioneering System Leaders programme.
