01/07/10: GateMate, The Prince's Trust

The second learning paper from Innovation Exchange's Next Practice Programme has recently been published. The work Gene has been doing with the Prince's Trust 'Gatemate' campaign is featured (page 24/25). Project Leader Clara Clint talks about the support Gene has given...

Gene’s interventions helped build the relationships which drive the campaign and helped them to see themselves as a partnership:

"Working with Gene has helped to keep the project focused. Through regular meetings we discuss what’s going well and what the challenges are. Gene helps me and the campaign team to take a step back from the project and put it in perspective. He helps with positive motivation, and facilitation of meetings to make them more productive. It’s really good to have someone independent to the project be honest about what’s going well and what barriers are coming up."

The consultancy intervention has helped GateMate’s leaders to explore new ideas and new thinking. Gene encouraged them to take a cross-sectoral and international perspective on their work, which has ultimately increased the partnership group’s
ambitions for the project:

"We invited some experts from other fields completely unrelated to the world of work that we are in who came in and told us about campaigns in their world. We’ve looked to farther ambitious campaigns and thought ‘we can do that'."
