10/04/08: On Chesil Beach - Ian McKewan

I've just read this. It didn't take long because a) it's a short book with quite big words, and b) it's a real page-turner. On Chesil Beach is a painfully honest account of a relationship unraveled in one night. Of lives changed dramatically by youthful misunderstanding and the inability to go back and make amends. I'm now reading The Child in Time, which my good friend Valerie tells me is McKewan's best. Read the Guardian review of On Chesil Beach.

Comments

Ok, so I've finished The Child in Time. She was right, it was formidable.
