Gene came on board after the Harris Federation had begun thinking about putting on a major teaching and learning conference. He helped to transform our well-intentioned attempts at planning, giving a far clearer sense of vision, possibility and direction. He added depth to our initial ideas and brought in many additional initiatives to give the conference a unique impact. Having the experience and know-how needed for the successful functioning of a major event, he was able to ensure that all practical issues were provided for and did a fantastic job of liaising with a range of organisations to make sure that everything would be in place on the day. Without Gene's direction and guidance, the conference would not have been the enormous success it turned out to be.
